On 5 October the Moanoghar Residential
School & College (MRSC) organised a discussion session on the occasion of
the World Teachers’ Day (WTD) at its conference hall with the Principal Ashok
Kumar Chakma in the chair. Prof. Banchita Chakma, former Principal of Rangamati
Government College was present in the function as the key note speaker.
Facilitated by Zimi Tripura and Bijoya
Chakma, both are assistant teachers, the function was addressed by Jatil Bihari
Chakma, Vice-Principal (academic) and Ven. Shraddhalankar Mahathera, President
of the Governing Body of MRSC.
Prof. Banchita Chakma while speaking
as the key note speaker highlighted the roles of teachers for overall nation
building. She commented that there is no difference between a human baby and a
calf of animals. A calf does not require to strive for being an animal; while a
human baby has to grow through endless striving. In its journey to maturity,
teachers play a very pivotal role. She also added that a good teacher can help
a student to change his or her life. Therefore, to have a good teacher is a
great blessing for a student in his/her life.
Notable that 5 October is celebrated
as a World Teachers’ Day following the UNESCO’s resolution adopted in 1994.
Like other educational institutions
MRSC also observed the WTD under the theme, “ Valuing teachers voices: towards
a new social contract for education”.
