Jhimit Jhimit Chakma, B.Sc., B.Ed., joined Moanoghar Residential School as Assistant Teacher in 1985. In July 2010 he assumed the position of Headmaster of the school. As the Headmaster he is responsible for overall administration and management of the school. Other than regular administrative functions, he teaches Mathematics and Physics. He received training on various subjects: subject-based training on Mathematics and Physics. He was actively involved in scouting. From 1985 to 2004, he was the Joint Secretary of the Bangladesh Scouts of Rangamati district and Chittagong region. He is a renowned cultural activist in greater Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT). He is one of the founding members of the Jum Aesthetics Council (JAC), a leading cultural organization in CHT. Jhimit is also a playwright in Chakma language. He wrote and directed many dramas. In recognition of his contribution, Jhimit was awarded with the Arannok Deepu Memorial Award in 2015 by Arannok Natyadal, a renowned Theater Group in Dhaka, and Nattyojon by the Rangamati Zila Shilpkala Academy. He also has keen interest in folktale of the indigenous communities of Marma, Khumi and Mro in CHT. Also he is a collector of folk songs of ethnic minorities of Chakma, Mro, Khumi, Bawm and Chak in CHT.
