The Moanoghar Support
Group (MSG) of Rangamati Chapter organised an Art and Photography Exhibition on
16-17 February 2024 at the Rangamati Shilpakala Academy. Chaired by Dr Parash
Khisa, President of the MSG Rangamati Chapter, the art exhbitiion was inaugurated
by Jharna Khisa, Councilor of Rangamati Hill District Council (RHDC) on 16
February 2024. Protul Dewan, Vice
President of the MSG Rangamati Chapter, Anjulika Khisa, former District
Education Officer, Goirika Chakma, Vice president of Moanoghar, Ashok Kumar
Chakma, Executive Director of Moanogha and Nanda Kishore Chakma, General
Secretary of the MSG Rangamati Chapter, among others, were present at the
inaugural function.
For the first time, the MSG Rangamati Chapter organised
this art exhibition in Rangamati in order for raising funds to support the Moanoghar
Higher Education Program, titled Higher Education Loan program (HELP). In the
inaugural ceremony Dr Parash Khisa briefed the RDHC Councilor that all proceeds
raised from this exhibition would be deposited into the Moanoghar HELP funds.
Jharna Khisa, Councilor of RHDC, conveyed the message of
the RHDC Chairman Aungsui Prue Chowdhury to the MSG Rangamati Chapter that the
Rangamati Hill District Council and Mr Chowdhury himself as a citizen of the district,
are very supportive of the work of Moanoghar. The RHDC will do all possible
means to standy by Moanoghar to spread education among the disadvantaged
children in the hills.
It is notable that in order for standing by the Moanoghar
HELP, the MSG Rangamati Chapter was set up in 2015. One of the functions of the
MSG was to mobilise the civil society members and draw their support for
improving access to technical and higher education of the meritorious students
under the Moanoghar HELP.
Currently a total of 107 students have been receiving
support from the Moanoghar HELP to study in different technical institutes,
engineering and general universities across Bangladesh. The MSG Rangamati
Chapter helps raising funds every year through organising different
events.
A total of 77 art works
and photographs were on display in the exhibition. 43 were art works done by
the current and former students of Moanoghar, and the rest were photographs
taken by the renowned photographers of the CHT region. The artists whose works
were displayed in the exhibition are Dhana Moni Chakma, Ranel Chakma (Manik),
Uday Shankar Chakma, Dayal Mohan Chakma, Nantu Chakma, Sushanta Chakma, Kanak
Kumar Chakma, Jonal Chakma and Sanchay Moni Chakma. The photographers were Sanchay Chakma (Chwala
Bap), Sabuj Chakma and Joy Chakma.
These art works and
photographs depict the natural beauty, life and livelihood and wild lives of
the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
