On 2 February 2024, the Annual Prize Giving 2023 and
Refreshers’ Reception 2024 was held at the Moanoghar playground with Ven.
Shraddhalankar Mahathera, founding member and President of the School Managing
Committee, in the chair.
Jotil Bihari Chakma, Heamaster (acting) gave welcome speech
in the function. Welcoming all new students, he said that the school belongs to
all. He asked all students to strive hard, and all teachers will do their best
to provide care to them.
Dipankar Talukder, Honourabe Member of Parliament (MP) of
Rangamati Hill constituency, was expected to grace the function as the chief
guest. Due to illness, he could not attend the function, but he sent greetings
to all students including refreshers.
Durgeshwar Chakma, Vice-Chairman of Rangamati Sadar Upazila,
Ven. Buddha Datta Mahathera, Joint General Secretary, Ashok Kumar Chakma,
Executive Director of Moanoghar and Shila Bhadra Chakma, a guardian
representative were present in the function as special guests.
To welcome the new students, a welcome dance was performed by
the students of the school in tune with the Tagore song ‘Aguner parashmoni
chnawao prane/Ei jiban punno karo dahano-dane’ (give a touch of the
fiery magical stone to my life/Purify me, purify me, enlighten me. With all severe
pain, purify my soul). The old students received the new students by offering
flowers and lighting candles that represent love and knowledge. Notable that a
total of 234 new students got admitted into the Moanoghar Residential School
for the 2024 academic year.
Reception to the new students was followed by giving away
awards to the meritorious students, who did well in academic studies and
extended curricular activities in 2023.
In the end of the function, the students presented a cultural
show.
